Sunday Funday

I love Sundays in the summer, I relax and do pretty much nothing, hubby spends the day grilling and it's ALWAYS delish, kids play outside and lay around the house.  It's the epitome of summer relaxation!  However, my summer Sundays are quickly coming to an end.  The count down has begun and we are down to 2 more weekends till school starts, SHH!

Isn't this the way you picture re;axing on your Sunday???

During the school year Sundays are not so much fundays for me.  I feel like I'm cramming for a big exam EVERY week.  I want everything to be set and perfect for the upcoming week's lessons!  In fact I really don't like big family events/parties on Sunday either--it's too stressful for me.  Now you know my little 'control freak' secret--I want everything to be perfect!
I am excited that I think I may be read to launch my TPT store next week!!  Yeah for me, and so glad that the addition of credits and thank you's are going smoother than I expected!
So I am off to enjoy my Sunday.... you should too!

TMI??

It's about that time! I have been starting to work on getting my classroom ready for the upcoming school year, I have been stressing out because I can't get it exactly how I want it, but I'm working on that! Anyways, we have a tentative class list, 26 brand new faces set to join me in just a few short weeks. I am in a interesting position of already knowing several of my students. You see up until I joined the second grade team last year, I was teaching PreK in my building, so I have had a handful of these children before. Also, I do live in the neighborhood I teach, which has it's ups and downs. For the most part, I don't really mind it, and But I have many teacher friends who would never want to do it! Just today I was walking my dog and happened upon a few of last year's second graders who cheerily waved and shouted out "Hi Mrs. Driscoll!" That I love! So with the push for data driven instruction and RtI, we are expected to start interventions within the first few weeks of school it seems we are expected to get to know these kids and super quick! In my years of teaching, I have heard some teachers say they want to form their own opinions on their students, some want the heads up for any of those who need some special..ahem.. attention. So what's your thoughts? Do you like to know as much as you can?? Or would you rather know nothing?? Or maybe it's somewhere in between?? Comment below with your thoughts! As a thank you!! Here's a student info sheet I send home with my parents

Spoiled

I made my annual trip the local 'teacher store' this week to find all those goodies I want to help prep my classroom for the upcoming school year. As I wandered aimlessly around the store searching through racks and racks of scratch and sniff stickers, I found myself a little disappointed in looking for desk name tags, cubby tags, and the like. I did find a few good finds! Like a magnetic border for the white board and plenty of stickers and some cute large fish to decorate my door. But more often or not, I found myself thinking I could find something better on TPT or even make it myself!

Setting Goals

So here I sit...mid July, the school year is quickly approaching.  A close friend and colleague of mine recently started her own blog and TPT store this summer.  She's one of a kind and fabulous to work with (and hang out with too!).  You can check her out here!  So I thought, why not me too??
It is a perfect time to set my goals for the year!  As I start this year with my second graders, I plan to have them set their own goals and also work on some that I have set for them as well.  In fact, I am busily working on a version of my own goal sheet for my kiddos.

I found this awesome idea on Pinterest!  So I created a goal sheet that is based on what I expect for the students in my classroom.  This will be my first year trying this system, so I will see how it goes!

But back to me!  So my goal is to:  1.  Get a teaching blog up and running.  2.  Finish/Prepare activities & lessons I have made to sell.  3.  Start up a TPT store.   I am giving myself till October, no random pick there!  I'm hitting a big milestone in October, turning 40.

So I invite you to come along for the ride, and share this journey with me.  Learn, laugh, and listen!
